The Sea Pearl vineyards are enveloped by the Pacific Ocean to the east and hinterland mountains to the north and south. This beautiful valley along the coast is the perfect place for Sauvignon Blanc to flourish. Sea Pearl producers take a purist approach to winemaking, making certain the vineyards are in perfect condition and harvesting at optimum ripeness, letting the fruit express itself with minimal intervention in the winery. The result, the balance of absolute purity, bursting aromas, distinctive fruit characteristics and perfect acidity. The resulting Sea Pearl Sauvignon Blanc is full of fresh aromas and stunning Marlborough flavors of citrus and passion fruit.

Sea Pearl practices official sustainable wine growing techniques representing the best environmental practices in their vineyard and winery. Making this Sauvignon Blanc 100% certified grapes. Crafted from vineyards across Marlborough’s sub-regions of Awatere Valley, the fruit for this wine was carefully monitored throughout maturity and was harvested upon reaching optimum flavor development and ripeness. Transported to the winery immediately and pressed off with minimal skin contact. The resulting juice was cool fermented in stainless steel vats to retain its freshness and aromatics. 

Around the cool, shallow water of New Zealand, live the most unique and beautiful species of abalone (Paua). These native creatures have been revered by ancient cultures and in modern times alike for their brilliant iridescent shells, considered to have the widest color spectrum of any abalone in the world. They can produce a stunning pearl, which is a true rarity and treasure of New Zealand and the inspiration behind the Sea Pearl name.

Sauvignon Blanc

Sauvignon Blanc, a very recognizable white wine that is popularly dry, refreshingly zesty, and has strong, fruity and herbal characteristics. Ever hear of the term “pyrazines?” It’s a term noting the strong herbaceous flavors that are derived from compounds called Methoxypyrazines. These compounds are also found in bell peppers!

A flagship varietal to the Loire Valley in France (Sancerre) and New Zealand, the Sauvignon Blancs from New Zealand tend to be more aromatic and have tropical fruit notes than those from the Bordeaux or Loire Valley regions in France. Usually fermented in stainless steel vats, Sauvignon Blanc gives a clean, crisp flavor with occasional mineral notes, but no characteristics from oak, like you would normally see in a grape varietal like Chardonnay. However, look out for Fumé Blanc, this style of wine is an oaked-version of Sauvignon Blanc.

Marlborough, New Zealand

New Zealand is an isolated country in the middle of the South Pacific Ocean. The country is composed of two long main islands, called simply the North Island and the South Island. Located on the north end of the South Island lies the marvelous Marlborough region. As a pioneering wine district, Marlborough is probably the most revered wine-producing region in this small country, accounting for 62% of all wine produced in New Zealand. You can think of Marlborough as the quintessential sauvignon blanc territory.
