2019 Bodega Chacra ‘Sin Azufre’ Rio Negro Pinot Noir


Sin Azufre is a handcrafted personal project by Piero himself. It is an experiment of making wine without science, using only the eyes, nose, palette, and reasoning as tools. It is soft and balanced with lively aromas of dried raspberry, rose petal, poppies and herbs. It is transparent and energetic with pronounced minerality and soft tannins.

Organic & Biodynamic farming practices. Native yeast fermentation, no added sulfur, natural wine.

Serve with a slight chill on it and enjoy with salmon or Grilled Swordfish with Tomatoes and Oregano.

Pinot Noir

This elusive and delicate light-bodied grape is a winegrowers dream, but can be difficult to achieve. Stubborn, yet flirtatious, Pinot Noir is tantalizing creating a beautiful dance between the grape and the winemaker. The resulting light red wine can be nothing short of spectacular. Loved for its red fruit and spicy characteristics, its also a great food partner.

Look for notable regions including Burgundy, France, Central Coast or Sonoma in CA, Willamette Valley in Oregon, and Pfalz or Baden in Germany as well as many other regions around the world in New Zealand, Australia, Chile, and Argentina.

Patagonia, Argentina

Patagonia, the southernmost wine-producing region in Argentina, is located inland close to the Andes Mountains. Home to two key Argentina wine provinces, Rio Negro and Neuquén, this area sees different climate influences than its northerly neighbors who sit at a much high altitude. In Patagonia grape growing can provide its challenges due to desert winds, but the low rainfall and cooling influence from how it lies latitudinally, the vines actually benefit greatly and see a lesser risk for disease. The long days and cool nights give these wines a beautiful concentration with fresh fruit flavors and balanced acidity. 

Chacra was created by Piero Incisa della Rocchetta in 2004 with the intention of finding the most unobstructed expression of the climate, micro-climate, and terroir of Mainqué in the Río Negro region of Patagonia. Respecting the environment by following biodynamic and organic principles, Piero strives to make wines that are transparent, pure, delicate, and floral with a strong minerality.
In Patagonia, a “chacra” is a special piece of land destined to pomology. At the same time, chacras are vital energy centers that provide us with the ability to connect with the whole universe, with everything living and vibrating. In its nourishment, in the marriage with every meal, wine is the companion of pleasure and sensitivity. Wine is intimate and touches all our senses. Chacra aims to enhance that connection.
