2019 Alessandro Viola Note Di Rosso

80% Nero d’Avola, 20% Syrah from organically grown vineyards on the Island of Sicily.

A big, bold red wine with hints of black cherry, cassis and pepper. The body is full and round with dark fruit flavors and a rustic touch of dried oregano, anise spice, and underbrush.

This is the perfect pairing with a hearty Italian dinner or lamb chops. This wine sings alongside some meat!

Red Blends Wines

One of the world’s most classic and popular styles of red wine, Bordeaux-inspired blends have spread from their homeland in France to nearly every corner of the New World. Typically based on either Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot and supported by Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot, the best of these are densely hued, fragrant, full of fruit and boast a structure that begs for cellar time. Somm Secret—Blends from Bordeaux are generally earthier compared to those from the New World, which tend to be fruit-dominant.

Alessandro Viola is a tiny, natural wine producer from the Island of Sicily. He only farms vineyards and grapes that are native to the Island and practices organic and biodynamic viticultural techniques. He believes that only the land can manage and create the perfect balance in a grape. Alessandro hand-harvests all of his vineyards and only selects the best grapes to make his wine. To him, it is simple, if you only use the finest grapes, good wine will happen.
