The lieu-dit “Les Grandes Gouttes” sits at the southern edge of Meursault on border with Puligny, just a few hundred meters below the Premier Cru vineyard, ‘Les Charmes.’ The 50 year old vines are hand-harvested and directly pressed concrete vats where the native yeast fermentation begins. Aged in oak barrels (5% new) for 18 months.
This wine overdelivers, period. It has apple, pear, acacia flower, baking spice, minerality, acid, texture, and length. All I can say is that I would call this Puligny-Montrachet in a blind and the price point is a lot more wallet friendly.
