2017 Flâneur Willamette Valley Pinot Noir


This wine was fermented in a variety of stainless steel tanks and one large oak vessel. After a native yeast fermentation, it was aged in a combination of 228, 60T, and 2300L oak vessels. Light and fresh, and boasting a balance of tart red fruit and earthy characteristics, this Pinot Noir is an ideal match for many meals…or simply enjoyable on its own.

Earthy red in color, with cranberry, cherry, and ripe red apple aromas. A touch of vanilla, baking spice, and moist earthy soil. Wine has a clean, dry finish.

Pinot Noir

This elusive and delicate light-bodied grape is a winegrowers dream, but can be difficult to achieve. Stubborn, yet flirtatious, Pinot Noir is tantalizing creating a beautiful dance between the grape and the winemaker. The resulting light red wine can be nothing short of spectacular. Loved for its red fruit and spicy characteristics, its also a great food partner.

Look for notable regions including Burgundy, France, Central Coast or Sonoma in CA, Willamette Valley in Oregon, and Pfalz or Baden in Germany as well as many other regions around the world in New Zealand, Australia, Chile, and Argentina.

Willamette Valley, Oregon

The Willamette Valley AVA lies to the west of the Cascade Mountains south of the city, Portland in Oregon. Stretching into Southern Oregon, this region has the largest concentration of wineries and vineyards. With cool breezes from the Pacific Ocean, dry, long sunny days, and cool nights, Willamette Valley is prime territory for growing Burgundian grapes: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. With the first planting’s back in the 1960’s, this region has grown slowly, but significantly, producing top quality and world-renown wines from mostly small wineries. 

The Flâneur originated in Paris in the 1840s to describe a curious stroller, a connoisseur of life, walking at a pace slow enough to be lead by a turtle. The team at Flâneur truly consider themselves to be Flâneurs, passionate artisans joined together by the desire to slow down, observe the world, and create delicious wines. They live by the idea that some of the best things in life are uncovered without intention, and that life—like a good wine—should be enjoyed and appreciated. Flâneur farms organically and sustainably to grow grapes that are delicious and that celebrate the environment. Their vineyards are dry-farmed, meaning there’s no irrigation, they hand pick their grapes and use native yeast fermentation. Head winemaker Grant Coulter, was the head winemaker at Beaux Frères for 8 years and doesn’t believe in recipes or repetition. Just like each harvest shows different characteristics, every vintage tells its own story.
