Tulum, Mexico

Mexico on your mind for a spring break getaway? Tulum popping up on your Instagram feed?

With endless beaches, fresh margaritas, and perfect weather, Tulum should be on your list for a vacation this spring.  Read on to discover Tulum, ARGAUX-style.

STAY

Nomade

This boutique hotel, just steps from the beach, was an oasis of calm. The decor is to die for, with a relaxed vibe perfect for beach living and rejuvenation. Onsite classes, a spa, and a wellness-focused vibe will leave your soul refreshed. With two amazing (and healthy) restaurants on site, Macondo and La Popular, the view and meals never disappointed.

Ahau Tulum

With a professional kite and paddle boarding school, and the option to sleep literally on the beach in a lux cabana, this hotel is all about maximizing everything the ocean has to offer. Even the restaurant is on the sand! They also serve up a wonderfully fresh breakfast that is an excellent start to the day.

SIP

Zamas

Right along the shopping route, this is a great place to kickoff your beachside bar hopping. Starting with their super fresh cocktails, work your way along the beach for the most relaxed afternoon you’ve had in a while.

Gitano

With an insane Mezcal bar, this hip spot serves up impressive and inspired Mexican cocktails. A smoky and spicy cocktail pairs well with the jungle vibe.

EAT

Ahau Tulum

Our first day we went to this and fell in love with the Chicharrón tacos. This restaurant, right on the sand, had it all: an incredible staff, views to die for, and a killer taco.

Hartwood

The kitchen itself is outside, with the central focus being the fire. Starting from this basis, amazingly creative food comes out of the kitchen – all cooked over the aforementioned open flame. Their dedication extends beyond cooking method, as they use all solar energy, have zero carbon footprint, and change the menu weekly based of what is selling at the markets and brought back from the sea that day. A delightful experience where you are truly eating with nature.

Postada Margarita

This cool Italian spot was a welcome change of pace from the 24/7 Mexican food. Their wine list was inspirational, and we ordered Falanghina Del Sannio, which was memorable. Try this beautiful spot if you are looking for some excellent Italian food south of the border!
